| INFORMER -THE EIHL SLAMMY AWARDS EIHL COACH OF THE YEAR - Jack Adams- Well some players could qualify as coaches here in the EIHL. People conduct the trash talk will also be considered. But for this award we will look at players that give some guidance to other players and players that provide sound strategy. The nominees are Gurminder P, Bippy R and Atul B. The winner is Bippy R - this guy provides a constant stream of criticism and analysis of his team and other teams. The nod should go to Bippy R who is like the Don Cherry/Al Strachan of the league. EIHL ROOKIE OF THE YEAR -Calder - These would be First year players in the EIHL who are considered to be the best player in their first year. The nominees in this category are: Bippy R, Tanveer, Flyers Goalie, Deepak, Sam K, Paul, Aps, Birdie and Suk-Teji. This one is a tight one but the nod has to go to the high scoring Tanveer from Cherry Trophy. LEADERSHIP & HUMANITARIAN - King Clancy -This is for someone who does something out of the goodness of their own heart for the league, community of someone else. The nominees are Sukhminder Purba (donating his watch), Gurminder Purba (staying to fill out stats/referee), Jessie K (keeping the website up to date, referee), Poon S (website/referee/nets/headquarter). The winner is Poon Singh, for his excellent work in the league. GOALIES WITH COMBINED LOWEST GOAL AGAINST - Jennings - A goaltending combo that has the fewest goals against. The winners are the goalies from the Punjab Penguins - The deadly threesome of Sukhminder Purba, Rejean Rocker and Robby Sekhon. MOST IMPROVED PLAYER SELECTED BY EIHLPA - Lester B Pearson - A player who has made a drastic improvement in one season. The nominees are Goldie J, Rejean Rocker, Lucky K, and Robbie S. The winner is Lucky K of the High Flyers. GENTLEMANLY CONDUCT - Lady Byng - This goes to the player who plays with integrity and tries to play fair. A player who doesn't complain, trash talk or play dirty. The nominees are Sunny Rai, Hardeep R, Sam K, and Harj Chewa. This winner is Sunny Rai of the Punjab Penguins. This guy is one of the softest guys in the league. PRESIDENTS TROPHY - This goes to the team with the most regular season points. The winner this year is the Punjab Penguins. PERSEVERANCE AND SPORTSMANSHIP - Masterton - This will go to someone who has overcome many obstacles or through personal hardship to play in the EIHL. The nominees are Sunny Rai (work obstacle), Goldie J (personal injury), Amit B (alcoholism), Gogs K (alcoholism), Sunny G (el stomacho), Roger M (the whip) and the High Flyers (substance abuse). The winner is the High Flyers organization who overcame their drug problems to play in 7 out of 8 games. TOP DEFENSEMAN - Norris - This goes to the TOP defenceman in the league, someone who can be judged as an anchor of the team. The nominees are Amarpreet Singh, Goldie J, Bilal, Rim, Amman, Rupinder S, Paul B, Rejean Rocker, Bippy R, Harry J, and Manpreet J. The winner is Amarpreet Singh and Goldie J in a tie. OUTSTANDING SERVICE TO HOCKEY IN COUNTY COURT - Lester Patrick. This award goes to Gurminder Purba. This young lad saw a need for equipment and took his valuable time and effort to construct a net for the league. The league would like to show its appreciation to Gurminder who has provided an excellent GOOD DEED to our hockey system. TOP GOAL SCORER - Maurice Rocket Richard - This goes to the person with the most goals in the league. The winner is Jessie K who had 24 goals this season. TOP POINT SCORER - Art Ross - This goes to the person with the most points in the league. So in the EIHL I guess this award just the same as the Richard trophy. The winner is Jessie K who had 24 points this season. BEST DEFENSIVE FORWARD - Selke - This goes to the player who can play at both ends. Someone who can DO IT at both ends of the rink. The nominees are Poon Singh, Atul B, Harvir Gill, Rejean Rocker, Bilal, Goldie and Rim. The winner, from the Punjab Penguins Atul B. BEST GOALIE - Vezina - This award goes to the best goalie in the regular season. Many factors are taken into consideration such as wins, shots against, goals against average etc. The nominees are Amit B, Rejean Rocker, Sukhminder Purba, Gurminder Purba, and Gurpeet. The winner is Sukhminder Purba who has provided solid goaltending for the Punjab Penguins this season. MOST VALUABLE PLAYER - Hart - This goes to the player who has been most valuable to their team and to the league. The nominees are Jessie K, Poon S, Atul B, Gurinder K, Tanveer, Harj Chewa.
