- I have narrowed the awards down to twelve these will be the trophies awarded from now on, here are this years EIHL awards: Rookie of the Year - there were two new players added this year and only one would qualify for this award. Andy D will be eligible again next year as he played only one game. The winner is Reindeer who played well and scored a few goals this year. The Seva Award - This is for service to the league, your team and your players. The winner this year would have to be Gurminder P. He has provided a fresh new section to the web page and has been there for league and his team when needed. Lady Byng Award - The most gentlemanly player this season will go to Ammar Singh. As this is his last season he deserves this award for not only his fair play but also his commitment to the league. Way to go Ammmmmmmmmaaaaaaaaar. The EIHL Executive of the year - This is like the NHL's Adams award that goes to best coach, captain, general manager etc. This award goes to Jessie K who through the draft and trades has developed a fine team in the Red Army. He has used his GM senses to make a team that has gone two straight seasons undefeated. Vezina - This goes to the Goalie of the year. The nominees this season: Gurminder P, Diapers, Harvir would be a shoe in but has only played in two games. The Vezina goes to Gurminder Purba who has back stopped the Red Army to an undefeated season. Masterton - The Adversity Award - This year's award goes to everyone on the Giants roster that had to endure one of the worst performances ever. This is not to blame them because at times they played well but it is to expose sunny gill as the worst captain in EIHL History. Pest of the Year - This would go to the cheapshot player, someone who can agitate the opposing team. The nominees include Rupinder Singh, Sukhminder Purba, and Harry Jouhal. After careful consideration the award goes to Rup Singh who was a pest and a half, playing cheap, talking trash and just being a plain old esa tikanin when dealing with other teams star players. Selke - The best defensive forward this season is Atul Bhalla, other notables included Poon and Gogs. EIHLPA award - most improved player, this award goes to the player who has made the most improvement from last year. The nominees are Garry J, Bippy R, Paul B and Diapers. The award goes to Garry J of the Red Army who came back this year and scored 9 goals and provided the commies with yet another scoring option. Scoring title - Atul B wins this award with 20 goals just edging out Chewa who had 19. Norris Trophy - This goes to the best defenseman. The nominees are Balvir B, Goldy J, Rupinder S, Harry J, Bippy R and Paul B. The winner of the Norris is Goldy J, who wins this with another great season. MVP - Hart - The nominees are Atul B, Jessie K, Harj Chewa and Lucky K. The winner of the hart is Atul B, who has finally taken the mantle as the premier player this year. His offense was tops in the league and he provides solid defence as well. By winning this award he has catapulted himself into a stratosphere where only a few players can go. |
